A HOA (short for Homeowners’ Association) is a non-profit group that enforces standards and guidelines for the community. Every homeowner is automatically a member of the HOA.
HOA fees pay for maintenance of amenities like:
- Constructed wetlands and stormwater management facilities
- Wood screen fencing on major roadways and walkways
- Entry treatments, landscape features, fountains, and boulevards
- Additional items at the discretion of the Homeowners’ Association
The HOA will become active when:
- It is approximately one year before substantial completion of the entire development
- Enough individuals have signed up (via the developer) to volunteer for the board
- The community has voted to elect the Board of Directors from the volunteers
Payment of HOA fees:
- One payment at the time of lot purchase (held in trust until the HOA is active)
- Annual payment once the HOA is active
- Homeowners cannot opt out of HOA payments (an encumbrance is registered on the title of every lot ensuring that all property owners are obligated to pay)
